Please join us in congratulating Jim Stevens and Wendy Yano on their selection to the New Brunswick Fencing Team for the 2027 Canada Winter Games in Quebec City!

Jim is the head coach of Beaches Sabre East in Fredericton and has long served as a coach for NB’s provincial fencing team. A veteran sabre fencer himself and a 2019 Canadian National Champion in Veteran Mixed Sabre, Jim brings both competitive insight and years of coaching experience to this role. He has been named Team Coach for the NB squad.

Wendy is one of New Brunswick’s most decorated veteran sabre fencers, a multi-time Canadian National Champion in Veteran Women’s Sabre (2018, 2019, 2026), an international World Cup competitor, and a two-time gold medalist at the 2026 May Nationals. Wendy has been named Team Manager for the NB squad.

Together, Jim and Wendy bring an unmatched depth of experience, passion, and leadership to this role — and this is not their first time doing so: both served in the same positions for the NB team at the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island. We are proud to have them represent New Brunswick in Quebec City in 2027!
